Mas Companyo is set apart, slightly above the frontier town of Céret. The Mediterranean is but 30 kilometres distant, whilst the ‘green border’ region with Spain is also only a few kilometres away through the Pyrenees.

Activities: Waterfalls and natural water slides: The thrill of canyoning. The Mediterranean coast with its enticing and charming towns – for instance the artist village of Collioure – is but a mere 50 minute drive away from Mas Companyo.

The morning market held every Saturday in Céret should be enjoyed as early as possible!

Céret is renowned for producing the earliest ripened cherry harvest throughout the whole of France. A centuries old annual tradition sees the very first punnet of cherries harvested being delivered to the French President in Paris !

The collection exhibited in the Musée d’ART Moderne in Céret is of particular note, as it includes works from such noted artists as Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso, Juan Gris, Aristide Maillot, André Masson, Henri Matisse, Joan Miró, Antonio Tàpies, Valerio Adami, Karel Appel, Arman, Georg Baselitz, Georges Braque, Breyten Breytenbach, Günter Brus, Eduardo Chillida, Salvador Dali, Simone Delaunay, Raoul Dufy, Jörg Immendorf, Eduard Kienholz, Joseph Kosuth, Barbara Kruger, Claes Oldenburg, Sigmar Polke, Arnulf Rainer, Richard Serra and Daniel Spoerri.

The town of Collioure is on the Vermilion Coast in the arrondissement of Céret.

The annual Saint Vincent festival is held around August 15 for several days with music and fireworks.
In the early 20th century Collioure became a center of artistic activity.
Georges Braque, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso have all been inspired by Collioure and its typical Mediterranean bay.
Collioure is the name of an Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) situated around the town, producing wines.

The ancient terraced vines in the hills behind the town provide grapes for the apéritif and dessert wines of the (Banyuls) appellation and Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC).

Collioure is also famous for its anchovies.
